In mid-June 2016, the Chinese automaker Geely pleased the world community with its next novelty - a compact class off-road vehicle called Vision X6, which replaced the GX7 model (known to Russian consumers as Emgrand X7) ... yes - such here is the intricate "brand logistics" of the Chinese.
The car, designed according to the new "family" style of the brand, went on sale in the Chinese market in August of the same year, and in January 2019 it reached Russia (respectively, under the name "X7" and almost having lost the "Emgrand" prefix) ...
Exterior
Externally, the updated Geely Emgrand X7 (aka Vision X6 SUV) is clearly a success - the dullness of its predecessor has sunk into oblivion, and the SUV is dressed in an attractive and modern design, which has something to catch the eye.
At the front, the car draws attention with slanting lighting technology and a stylish radiator grille with a pattern like "circles on the water", while at the back it flaunts spectacular lights and an athletic bumper. The harmonious silhouette of the five-door also does not cause any particular complaints - lean sidewalls, correct "flourishes" of the wheel arches, the soaring line of the window sill and the falling roof.
Dimensions and weight
In terms of its dimensions, the new Geely Emgrand X7 fits into the concept of a compact SUV segment: 4540 mm in length, 1707 mm in height and 1834 mm in width. The gap between the pairs of wheels is 2661 mm, and the ground clearance is 160 mm.
In the "combat" state, the crossover weighs from 1433 to 1505 kg, depending on the modification.
Salon interior
The interior of the Geely Emgrand X7 meets the riders with a fashionable design, high-quality finishing materials and neat execution.
The instrumental "toolkit" with two dials and a "window" of the on-board computer is dressed up and informative, and the "plump" steering wheel is pretty in appearance and multifunctional in practice. On the center console, a fundamental place is given to the 9-inch "TV" of the multimedia center, below which the blocks of "music" and "climate" are successfully arranged.
The SUV's interior provides ample supply of vital space in both rows of seats. The front seats are provided with a well-developed profile, including lateral ones, and a solid adjustment range. The back sofa is molded for two people, but if necessary, it can accommodate a third.
The luggage compartment of the Geely Emgrand X7, when loaded under the roof, can hold 580 liters of luggage. The 60:40 folding backrest of the rear sofa creates a flat area and increases the available volume to more than 1200 liters. A niche under the raised floor accommodates a full-size spare wheel and a set of tools.
Specifications
In the Russian market, the front-wheel drive crossover is offered with two gasoline four-cylinder engines with an in-line configuration, a distributed power system and a 16-valve DOHC timing belt:
- The basic version is the "aspirated" JLC-4G18 with a volume of 1.8 liters (1799 cm³), the capacity of which is 131 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm.
- The alternative is a 2.0-liter (1997 cc) naturally aspirated engine that generates 139 hp. at 5600 rpm and 191 Nm of peak torque at 4000-4400 rpm.
The "junior" motor is combined exclusively with a 5-speed "manual" gearbox, while the "senior" relies only on a 5-band hydromechanical "automatic".
With a 1.8-liter unit, the car accelerates to the first "hundred" after 12.8 seconds, but how nimble the version with a 2.0-liter "aspirated" is is not reported.
The maximum crossover accelerates to 160-175 km / h, and in the combined cycle it consumes from 8.1 to 8.6 liters of gasoline, depending on the modification.
Design features
The base for the Geely Emgrand X7 is a modernized front-wheel drive "bogie" from the pre-reform Emgrand X7 with a power plant located transversely in the front end and a monocoque body made with a large percentage of high-strength steels and reinforced with energy-absorbing "safety bars".
At the front, the car is equipped with an independent chassis with McPherson struts, and at the rear - a multi-link system. On each of the five-door wheels, disc-type brakes (ventilated on the front axle) with ABS and EBD are installed, and its steering gear is supplemented with an amplifier.
Options and prices
In the Russian market, Geely Emgrand X7 is offered in five trim levels to choose from - "Basic", "Standard", "Comfort", "Lux" and "Flagship" (the first three - only with a 1.8-liter engine, and the remaining two - with 2.0 -liter unit).
For a car in the basic version, you will have to fork out at least 1,029,990 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes: two airbags, a media center with a 9-inch screen, ABS, ESP, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, steering wheel trim leather, power windows for all doors, single-zone climate control, an audio system with two speakers, keyless entry and engine start, heating and power mirrors and some other equipment.
The crossover in the "Standard" and "Comfort" versions will cost from 1,069,990 and 1,169,900 rubles, respectively, for the 2.0-liter Lux configuration they ask for at least 1,209,990 rubles, and the "top" modification costs from 1 304,990 rubles.
The most "sophisticated" car boasts: six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, fog lights, "leather" interior, electric front seats, rear view camera, sunroof, "cruise", multifunctional steering wheel and "music" with six speakers.
