Chery Arrizo GX is a front-wheel drive sedan “overgrown” of the C-class according to the European classification, combining an attractive design, a progressive and practical interior, decent technical “stuffing” and a wide range of equipment, which is positioned in the company itself as a “driver's car” ... This four-door car is aimed primarily at city dwellers with an average income level who want to get a spacious family car and, at the same time, a spectacular car - for a reasonable price ...
For the first time in all its glory, Chery Arrizo GX appeared before the world community in April 2018 at the International Auto Show in Beijing, but only in a pre-production guise, and the commercial vehicle debuted in the fall of the same year at a bridal show in Chengdu.
It is noteworthy that before the official launch, the sedan was called Arrizo 6, since it was supposed to occupy a niche between the three-volume Arrizo 5 and Arrizo 7, but in the end the Chinese decided to use the GX letter index in order to emphasize the higher status of the model. And this is no accident, because the four-door car became the first Chery passenger car built on the M1X platform, and received a wide range of options, including a human speech recognition system.
Exterior
Outside, Chery Arrizo GX does not amaze with anything special, but it looks quite nice, proportional and modern, and its exterior does not have any obvious borrowings. The front part of the three-volume is decorated with frowning lighting technology with LED "ticks" of the running lights, a stylish radiator grill, pierced with a chrome crossbar, and a raised bumper, and its stern is crowned with nice lanterns and a neat bumper with a fake lining that imitates a pair of exhaust pipes.
In profile, the sedan boasts a wedge-shaped body shape with a sloping bonnet, a falling roofline, a "window sill" that tends upward, expressive sides and a harmonious "outgrowth" of the luggage compartment, however, a certain dissonance in its outline is introduced by small wheel arches (although they accommodate the "rollers" dimension 16-17 inches).
Dimensions and weight
In terms of overall dimensions, Chery Arrizo GX is an "overgrowth" of the C-class by European standards: the four-door is 4710 mm long, 1825 mm wide, and 1490 mm high. The distance between the front and rear axles of the vehicle is 2,670 mm, and its ground clearance is 127 mm (at full load).
In the equipped form, the sedan weighs from 1326 to 1365 kg, depending on the modification.
Interior
The interior of Chery Arrizo GX pleasantly surprises - although it looks quite strict, but at the same time attractive and progressive, and the main tone inside is set by the front panel, upholstered in gray "leather": its upper part is occupied by an 8-inch touchscreen of the infotainment complex, and the lower - touch panel with a diagonal of 9 inches, controlling climatic functions, with two rotating handles.
Behind the stylish three-spoke multi-steering wheel is another 7-inch color on-board computer display squeezed between a pair of analogue speedometer and tachometer dials.
It should be noted that in the basic versions, the interior will be much simpler - with an unpretentious radio tape recorder, physical air conditioning switches and a 3.5-inch "window" on the dashboard.
According to the passport, the decoration of Chery Arrizo is designed to accommodate the driver and his four companions, and in fact they will sit here without any problems. The front seats are equipped with ergonomically profiled chairs with unobtrusive lateral support bolsters, moderately rigid "insides" and sufficient adjustment intervals.
On the second row there is a comfortable sofa, an almost flat floor and its own ventilation deflectors.
The trunk of the Chinese sedan is more than impressive - its volume in normal condition reaches 570 liters. At the same time, a full-size spare wheel and the necessary set of tools are hidden in the underground niche, and the rear sofa folded in two sections allows you to transport long items (although the opening to the salon in this case turns out to be small).
Specifications
Chery Arrizo GX is armed with a petrol four-cylinder engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters with an in-line architecture, a turbocharger, direct fuel injection, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable gas distribution phases, which produces 147 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque at 1750-4000 rpm.
By default, the engine mates with a 5-speed "mechanics" and front-wheel drive transmission, but as an option it relies on a CVT variator, which in manual mode is able to simulate the operation of nine fixed gears.
Speed, dynamics and consumption
From standstill to 100 km / h, the sedan accelerates in about 9 seconds, and its top speed is 195-210 km / h (in favor of the "automatic" transmission).
In the combined cycle, the vehicle requires 6.4 to 6.6 liters of fuel, depending on the version.
Design features
At the heart of the Chery Arrizo GX is a front-wheel drive platform designed for passenger cars and unified with the T1XX crossover bogie, which implies a transverse motor. The load-bearing structure of the car body consists of 65% of high-strength steel grades.
On the front axle of the sedan, an independent suspension of the MacPherson type is used, and on the rear axle there is a semi-independent system with a torsion beam ("in a circle" - with passive shock absorbers and anti-roll bars).
By default, the four-door is equipped with rack and pinion steering and electric power assistance, and all its wheels are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), supplemented by ABS, EBD and BAS.
Options and prices
At home, Chery Arrizo GX is sold at prices ranging from 79,900 to 106,900 yuan, while in 2020 the car should reach the Russian market, and, most likely, with a local "registration".
