Hyundai Sonata Sport is a "sporty" modification of the front-wheel drive sedan "mid-size class", which differs from the "civilian" model only in "visual surroundings" ...

The world premiere of the car took place in April 2014 at the New York Auto Show simultaneously with the standard "brother" of the seventh generation, and three years later, at the same place, its debut was celebrated by a restyled version, which noticeably changed in appearance and received visible modifications to the interior decoration.

Outwardly, confusing the "sports" version of the "Sonata" with the base sedan is simply impossible - its essence is emphasized by a radiator grille with a large-mesh pattern, more aggressive bumpers, a kind of diffuser in the rear with two exhaust pipes, door sills and wheel rims of the original design.

The overall dimensions of the Hyundai Sonata Sport are identical to those of the “civilian” model: 4855 mm in length, 1475 mm in height and 1865 mm in width. A base length of 2805 mm fits between the pairs of wheels at the three-volume.

Inside, the Sport-modification of the sedan is distinguished by a steering wheel truncated in the lower part with gearshift paddles, a dashboard, on which the arrows in the zero position "look" straight down, and front seats with a developed relief.

In terms of other parameters, the car repeats the standard "brother": modern and elegant design, impeccable ergonomics, high quality workmanship, a five-seat layout and a luggage compartment with a volume of 510 liters.

For the "seventh" Hyundai Sonata Sport, two gasoline engines are offered:

  • The basic version is a 2.4-liter "aspirated" with four cylinders, direct injection and a 16-valve timing, developing 188 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 241 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.
  • The "top" versions are equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with 16 valves and a direct "power supply" system, which produces 245 hp. at 6000 rpm and 353 Nm of peak thrust at 1400-4000 rpm.

Both power plants are combined with driving front wheels and automatic transmissions: "junior" - with a 6-speed, and "senior" - with an 8-range.

The four-door rushes to conquer the second "hundred" after 7.4-9 seconds, and it accelerates to a maximum of 210-240 km / h.

Fuel consumption in mixed conditions for the "Korean" varies from 8.3 to 8.5 liters for every 100 km of run, depending on the version.

From a constructive point of view, the "Sport Sonata" does not differ from the standard model: independent suspensions "in a circle" with MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link system at the rear, adaptive electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated in the front) with a complex of electronic "assistants" ...

In the Russian market, the Hyundai Sonata Sport is not officially sold, but in the US it is offered at a price of $ 25,200 (~ 1.45 million rubles), which is asked for a version with an 188-horsepower engine. For a more efficient version with a 245 hp engine. will have to fork out at least $ 27,600 (~ 1.59 million rubles).
The standard "sports sedan" boasts: six airbags, 17-inch wheels, ABS, ESP, LED optics, a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, high-quality audio system, dual-zone "climate" and other modern bells and whistles.
