French carmaker Renault staged the world premiere of its new monophonic pickup truck called Alaskan on June 30, 2016 in Colombia, a concept version of which was presented to the public in September 2015. The car, which is a redesigned version of the Japanese "truck" Nissan Navara NP300, has the status of a global model - its sales will be carried out not only in Latin America, but also in Europe.

The exterior of Renault Alaskan is modern and pleasing to the eye, especially from the front - the front of the pickup is decorated in the “family” style of the French brand with a large “diamond” in the center of the radiator grille, slightly frowned headlights and a massive bumper.
In profile, the car "flesh and blood" Navara NP300 - harmonious outlines with a "window sill" rising to the C-pillar and widened wheel arches, but the "Frenchman" from behind looks the most simple, showing nice lights and a characteristic tailgate.

Alaskan is a mid-size truck with a double four-door Double Cab and flaunts the following dimensions: 5260 mm in length, 1820 mm in height and 1850 mm in width (in the future, a version with a one-and-a-half cab may appear). The wheelbase of the "Frenchman" is 3150 mm, and the clearance under the "belly" is 230 mm.

The interior of Renault Alaskan is devoid of utility and is made in full accordance with the current fashion trends - a multifunctional steering wheel "bagel" with a raised rim, a beautiful "toolbox" with a high level of information content and a glossy center console, which flaunts a 7-inch multimedia system monitor and a stylish " control panel "air conditioning system. Here are just basic designs that are distinguished by a simpler design. Inside the pickup, inexpensive but high-quality materials are used, and the assembly is at a decent level.

The Alaskan cabin is organized according to a five-seater scheme: in the front part there are ergonomic chairs with a comfortable layout and hard "insides", and in the back there is a full-fledged sofa with a sufficient margin of space in all dimensions.

In addition to five riders, the French "truck" is capable of taking on board over one ton of luggage. The dimensions of its cargo platform are as follows: length - 1503 mm, width - 1560 mm, side height - 474 mm.

Specifications. The power range of Renault Alaskan depends on the sales market.

  • For South American countries, the car will be offered with a 2.5-liter gasoline "four" developing 160 horsepower, as well as a turbodiesel unit of the same volume, the return of which is 160 or 190 "horses".
  • But the pickup will reach Europe with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with direct fuel supply and a pair of turbochargers, offered in two boost options: 160 "mares" and 403 Nm of torque or 190 forces and 450 Nm of peak thrust.

Engines will be combined with 6-speed "mechanics" or 7-speed "automatic", rear or hard-activated four-wheel drive (with locking rear differential and lower gear).

Alaskan is based on the platform from Nissan Navara NP300 with a powerful ladder frame in the body structure. The front wheels of the "truck" are suspended by means of an independent spring-link suspension with a lateral stabilizer, and a continuous axle with helical springs and a five-arm mount is used at the rear (the version with a one-and-a-half cab will receive a spring architecture).
The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering system and power steering. The front wheels of the "Frenchman" accommodate ventilated "pancakes" of the brake complex, and the rear - drum devices (plus, by default, there are ABS, EBD and BAS).

Options and prices. Renault Alaskan will be produced at three factories - in Argentina, Mexico and Spain. Initially, the car will go on sale in Latin America, and by the end of the year it should “reach” the European market (prices will be announced later, but judging by the analogy with “Duster-Terrano”, the “Frenchman” will probably be more affordable than the “Japanese”) ...
In terms of equipment, the "truck" is in no way inferior to competitors, it has everything: airbags, a surround view system, a multimedia center with a color screen, a dual-zone "climate", an audio system with six speakers, engine start from a button, uphill start assist technology, multifunction steering wheel, ABS, ESP and a lot of other modern equipment.
In Russia, the prospects for the car are vague, because in our country even the "original" Nissan Navara NP300 is not offered.
