The compact premium crossover with the "index" QX50 appeared in the line of the Japanese automaker Infiniti at the end of 2013, but this could not be called the appearance of a new model - it was an "old acquaintance" EX, presented back in 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show, which as a result of the rebranding, it received a new name.

And so, at the beginning of April 2015, on the stage of the New York Motor Show, the debut of an updated version of this car took place, which received minor changes in appearance (bumpers, grille and mirror housings) and increased body dimensions - now, at least, there is a reason consider it a "new model".

In the exterior of the Infiniti QX50, the designers managed to combine the smoothness of the lines and the aggressive, assertive appearance, so the crossover already visually hints at the sporty nature of its driving characteristics.

The front of the car is replete with branded design elements of the brand: a trapezoidal radiator grill with chrome surround and large L-shaped optics with xenon. Also, the "face" is crowned with a muscular bumper, flavored with silver inserts, with implanted sections of navigation lights and foglights.

The elongated bonnet, rearward-shifted interior, short overhangs and smooth roof lines - the squat and graceful body of the QX50, with its swift contours, declares a symbiosis of a practical crossover and a luxurious coupe. The styling set by the front and sidewalls can also be seen in the design of the stern: expressive LED lights, a spoiler “on the top” of the luggage compartment lid and a bumper with a protective strip in silver color and two “trunks” of the exhaust.

The outer dimensions of the premium SUV fully meet the canons of the class in which it stands: 4745 mm in length, 1803 mm in width and 1613 mm in height. The wheelbase is an impressive 2880 mm, and the ground clearance is not at all crossover 165 mm.

The interior of the Infiniti QX50 looks beautiful and expensive, made of high-quality finishing materials (soft plastics, genuine leather, decorative inserts made of wood and metal) and carefully assembled. Optitronic devices with clear graphics and high information content are hidden behind a small steering wheel with a dozen control buttons. The center console stands out for its solid appearance and ergonomic layout: a 7-inch display with a keyboard recessed into the panel, a stylish analog clock, neat audio and climate control units.

The premium crossover is equipped with comfortable front seats with a dense profile, tangible support on the sides and a large supply of electrical adjustments. The long wheelbase provides the rear passengers with ample legroom, but the drop-down roof presses on the heads of tall people.

For daily needs, the Infiniti QX50 has a luggage compartment with a volume of 527 liters. The backrest of the rear sofa is folded by means of an electric drive, increasing the capacity of the "hold", however, the flat loading area does not come out. A compact "spare wheel" is placed under the raised floor, in the disk of which a subwoofer is placed (this was done in order to save space).

Specifications. The premium Infiniti QX50 is offered with two petrol V-shaped "sixes" (most likely, the updated version will not undergo any changes in this regard), each of which is equipped with distributed fuel injection and a 24-valve DOHC timing belt. In partnership with them, a 7-band "automatic" with a sport mode and an ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive transmission with an electromagnetic clutch work (by default, all the moment goes to the rear wheels, but when slipping to half of the thrust goes to the front axle).

  • The "younger" unit with a volume of 2.5 liters (2496 cubic centimeters) produces a maximum of 222 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 252 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. Thanks to such characteristics, "ku-x-fiftieth" is provided with acceleration to the first speed in 9.4 seconds and a top speed of 210 km / h. When driving in a combined cycle, the car costs 10.6 liters of gasoline.
  • The "senior" 3.7-liter "aspirated" (3696 cubic centimeters) conceals in its bins a herd of 330 "horses" generated at 7000 rpm and 361 Nm of peak potential supplied to the wheels with 5200 rpm. From 0 to 100 km / h, this QX50 breaks down in 6.4 seconds, conquering the limit of 240 km / h. Fuel consumption is set at 12.1 liters in mixed mode.

This vehicle is based on the Front Midship architecture, which implies placing the engine behind the front axle. The front axle is equipped with an independent double wishbone suspension with aluminum components and two-way shock absorbers. An independent "multi-link" with a separate arrangement of springs and shock absorbers is installed at the rear. The brakes are disc (ventilated on the front wheels), all versions have ABS, a stabilization system and a brake force distribution system. The steering mechanism "flaunts" a hydraulic booster.

Prices and equipment. In the Russian market for the restyled Infiniti QX50 2016, there are three configurations - Elite, Hi-Tech and Design.
For the basic version, they ask for a minimum of 2,479,600 rubles, but it is equipped quite generously. By default, the car "flaunts" six airbags, dual-zone "climate", ABS, ESP, leather trim, Bose audio system with eleven speakers, bi-xenon headlights, multimedia system, rear view camera, 18-inch wheels and a whole range of modern " lotions ", in charge of comfort and safety.
The intermediate version of Hi-Tech is estimated at 2 652 900 rubles, and the maximum design performance is another 40 thousand rubles more. In addition to the above, the functionality of the "top" crossover includes all-round cameras, adaptive "cruise", electric boot lid, navigation, 19-inch wheels and some other options.
