The subcompact sedan Chevrolet Cobalt is a native of the South American continent, which is why its restyled version was presented there. A noticeably prettier car flaunted in front of the public at the start dates of December 2015 in the Brazilian Rio de Janeiro, and in the spring of 2016 it reached the local market (in Russia, for obvious reasons, it most likely will not appear in the near future).

All the metamorphoses that happened to the three-volume were in the exterior, interior and equipment list, which allowed it to acquire a more prestigious positioning, while the technical "filling" remained intact.

After the renovation "Cobalt" began to look noticeably prettier, more modern and noble - the adaptation of the "family" style of the brand to the nondescript "shell" of the four-door turned out to be very successful. If the silhouette of the car has retained the outlines of its predecessor, then its front and rear have changed fundamentally: in front, the sedan flaunts a predatory look of headlights and an intricately curved grill, sprinkled with chrome, and at the back there are complex lights crawling onto the trunk lid and a relief bumper.

The restyled Chevrolet Cobalt is a representative of the size class "B" and has the following dimensions: 4481 mm in length, 1735 mm in width (2005 mm including mirrors) and 1509 mm in height. The pairs of wheels at the four-door fit into each other 2620 mm, and its gap under the "belly" is 160 mm.

Interior

The inner world of "Cobalt" has undergone fewer changes than the exterior, but they all fell into place. Behind the cool multifunctional "steering wheel" there is still a motorcycle "shield" with a pointer tachometer and a monochrome display, but the minimalist center console is decorated with a 7-inch "monitor" of the MyLink II multimedia complex and three "washers" of the climate system.

The decoration of the three-volume is made of inexpensive materials, but in the "top" configuration, the seats are dressed in leather.

Four full-fledged seats are organized in the Chevrolet Cobalt 2016 model year (the fifth passenger may feel discomfort, but will only endure a short trip). The front seats have unobtrusive lateral support and ample adjustment intervals, while the rear sofa is designed for two people.

The trunk of "Cobalt" is impressive in its scope - its volume in standard form is 563 liters (in addition, the "gallery" is folded in a couple of parts, but it does not form an even "rookery"). Regardless of the version, the car is equipped with a full-size "spare wheel" and the most necessary tools.

Specifications

The updated version of the Chevrolet Cobalt is equipped with a non-alternative gasoline unit (in the specification for the Brazilian market, it can also run on ethanol) - this is a 1.8-liter inline four, equipped with electronic fuel injection and an 8-valve SOHC timing belt. On gasoline, the engine generates 105 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 165 Nm of torque at 2800 rpm, and on ethanol, its output rises to 110 "stallions" and 174 Nm at identical rpm. All power in full is directed to the wheels of the front axle using 6-speed "mechanics" or "automatic".

From a standstill, the car picks up the first "hundred" after 11.6 seconds, and its maximum speed is fixed at 170 km / h (regardless of the type of gearbox). In the combined driving mode, the three-volume "digests" from 6.5 to 7.6 liters of gasoline.

The technical component of the Chevrolet Cobalt has not undergone any changes after the update: at the heart of the car is a GM Gamma front-wheel "bogie" with MacPherson struts in front and an elastic beam at the rear, and its body is created with a wide use of steel of a high level of strength. On the front axle of the four-door there are ventilated "pancakes" of the brake complex, and on the rear - drum devices (already in the "staff" there is ABS, EBD and other electronics). The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering gear, which is equipped with an electric power steering with adaptive characteristics.

Options and prices

Such "Cobalt" is not officially supplied to Russia, but in the key Brazilian market it is in good demand and, as of 2016, is sold in LTZ and Elite trim levels.

For the basic version, they ask for a minimum of R $ 62,190 (~ 1.20 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and for the "top" version - R $ 68,990 (~ 1.35 million rubles).

As standard, the sedan is equipped with two airbags, ABS with EBD, air conditioning, 15-inch wheel discs, power outside mirrors, a rear parking sensor, four power windows, a multimedia center with a 7-inch screen, a four-speaker audio system and other options. The more advanced version additionally "flaunts" leather trim, wheel rims of the original design, a rain sensor and some other "goodies".
