The Mercedes-Benz Citan Tourer is a front-wheel drive minivan of a compact class with a five-seater cabin layout, designed to perform various tasks: it can equally successfully perform the functions of a “family car” and be operated as a “delivery vehicle” for delivering small consignments ...

The official premiere of the five-door, which is a “product” of cooperation between Mercedes-Benz and Renault-Nissan, took place in September 2012 at the international show “IAA Commercial Vehicle Show” in Hanover (although it was declassified back in February of the same year during online presentations). And in May 2015, the minivan underwent a slight update, which "bypassed" the exterior design, but affected the power palette and the list of options.

The outlines of the Renault Kangoo are easily guessed in the exterior of the Citan, but the German looks more modern, attractive and more solid than the original - the credit for this belongs to the nose, decorated in the “family” style of Mercedes-Benz, with beautiful lighting equipment and a large "three-pointed star" in the center of the grille.

From other angles, the monocab is perceived as much less interesting (and all because of the strong similarity with the French model): a characteristic silhouette with a high roofline and embossed wheel arches and a simple rear with vertical lights and a huge trunk lid.

The length of the Mercedes-Benz Citan is 4321 mm, its width is 2138 mm, and its height does not exceed 1809 mm. The center distance of the minivan has a 2697 mm gap, and its ground clearance is 147 mm.

When equipped, the car weighs from 1365 to 1405 kg, depending on the version. The carrying capacity of the five-door varies from 555 to 710 kg (it can carry another 100 kg on the roof), and the mass of the trailer towed by it (equipped with brakes) reaches 1050 kg.

Inside "Sitana" looks utilitarian and neither in its appearance nor in the quality of finishing materials corresponds to the premium status of the German brand. An uncomplicated center console with two round ventilation deflectors, three "microclimate" controls and a simple radio tape recorder, a laconic instrument cluster with a small trip computer display and a three-spoke steering wheel - the interior of the minivan is, as they say, working, without any design refinements.

One of the key advantages of the Mercedes-Benz Citan is its spacious and comfortable interior, literally permeated with light. The front seats are distinguished by an ergonomic profile with well-developed sidewalls, dense padding and wide adjustment intervals. The back row of seats can accommodate three adults, and none of them will feel the lack of free space.

With a five-seat layout, the volume of the Sitan's cargo compartment is 685 liters, and the length of the platform does not exceed 953 mm. "Gallery" is folded in several unequal sections, which increases the capacity of the trunk up to 3000 liters (the maximum length of the load in this case is equal to 1753 mm).

Specifications. On the Russian market, the Mercedes-Benz Citan is offered with two engines, which are combined with 5- or 6-speed "manual" gearboxes and a front-wheel drive transmission:

  • The first option is a four-cylinder diesel engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters with turbocharging, direct fuel injection and an 8-valve timing architecture, which is declared in three boost levels:
    • 75 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 180 N • m of torque at 1750-2500 rpm;
    • 90 h.p. at 4000 rpm and 200 N • m peak potential at 1750-3000 rpm;
    • 110 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 240 Nm rotational recoil at 1750-2750 rpm.
  • An alternative to it is a petrol 1.2-liter "four" with a turbocharger, 16 valves, direct "power" technology and variable valve timing, producing 114 hp. at 4500 rpm and 190 N • m available torque at 2000-4000 rpm.

Depending on the modification, "Sitan" accelerates to 150-160 km / h, and the second "hundred" is exchanged after 13.3-16.3 seconds.

Diesel versions "digest" 4.4-4.7 liters of fuel in combined conditions for every 100 km, and the petrol version - 6.1 liters.

At the heart of the Mercedes-Benz Citan is the Renault C front-wheel drive platform, inherited by the German from Renault Kangoo.
On the front axle of the minivan, an independent suspension with MacPherson struts is used, and on the rear axle, a semi-independent system with an elastic beam (in each case, with transverse stabilizers and hydraulic shock absorbers).
All wheels of the car are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front) with ABS and EBD, and its rack and pinion steering is equipped with an electric power steering.

Options and prices. On the Russian market in 2017, "Sitan" is offered in four versions - 108CDI, 109CDI, 111CDI and 112. The minimum asking for a car is 1,675,000 rubles, while the petrol version is not cheaper than 1,682,000 rubles.
As a standard, the minivan is equipped with: two front airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, an uphill start assist system, power steering, steel wheel rims, an immobilizer, standard audio preparation and a central locking system.
For a surcharge, the five-door rely: air conditioning, cruise control, 15-inch alloy wheels, an audio system, power windows for all doors, light and rain sensors and other equipment.
