The eighth generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution sports sedan appeared in 2003, and its production was carried out until March 2005, when a new generation of the iconic model was presented. "Evolution" in the eighth body is notable for the fact that for the first time in the history of the model it began to be officially sold in the United States.

The appearance of the "charged" sedan Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution of the 8th generation can be described as attractive, assertive and moderately aggressive. Something, but in the general flow of cars it will definitely be noticeable. The exterior of the Lancer Evo VIII is distinguished by aerodynamic elements: a front bumper with air ducts, a hood with a slot for more efficient engine cooling and a large wing on the trunk lid for improved downforce.

"Evolution" in the eighth body is a typical representative of the C-class, albeit a little in an unusual guise. Vehicle length is 4490 mm, height - 1450 mm, width - 1770 mm. From the front to the rear axle, the "Japanese" has a distance of 2625 mm, and under the bottom - 140 mm. When equipped, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 weighs 1410 kg, and it rests on the road with four wheel disks with a standard size of 234/45 / R17.

The interior of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII is simple and laconic, and says little about the sporty essence of the car (except that the small Momo steering wheel and aluminum pedals). The dashboard does not shine with an outstanding design, however, there are no questions about its informativeness (interesting, but the speedometer is shifted slightly to the left of the tachometer). The center console is the height of minimalism: there is only an audio system and an air conditioning control unit.

The inner space of Evolution is woven from hard and cheap plastics, both in appearance and in touch. Build quality is decent though. The seats are available in either fabric upholstery or leather inserts.

The front of the "eighth" Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is equipped with Recaro bucket seats with developed support on the sides. There are enough adjustment ranges to comfortably fit both in the driver and in the passenger seat. The rear sofa of a "charged" sedan is suitable for three people - there is a reserve of space above the head and in width, but especially tall people can rest their knees on the backs of the front seats.

In the arsenal of the "Eighth Evolution" - a 430-liter luggage compartment. There is enough space for hand luggage, and if you remember that a full-fledged spare wheel is based under the floor, then this figure can be considered worthy.

Specifications. Sedan Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 is equipped with a 2.0-liter "four" with an in-line arrangement of cylinders, a turbocharging system and distributed fuel injection. The maximum motor generates 280 horsepower and 392 Nm of peak thrust (available at 3500 rpm). It is combined with a "mechanic" for five or six gears (depending on the modification).
The "charged" three-box is equipped with the all-wheel drive transmission, for which it is most appreciated. The front axle has a worm-gear limited slip differential (simple but reliable), the central ACD differential is active, and the Super AYC differential is activated on the rear axle (the situation is analyzed using a variety of sensors and, through hydraulics, electronic control unit and friction clutches, the torque is divided between the wheels extremely effective).

The dynamic and high-speed capabilities of the "eighth" Evo are at a decent level - after 6.1 seconds the car goes to conquer the second hundred, and it will accelerate until the speedometer needle hits the mark of 245 km / h. Every 100 kilometers in the combined cycle, the sedan's tank is emptied by an average of 10.9 liters (in the city - 15.4 liters, on the highway - 8.3 liters).

On the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in the 8th body, a fully independent suspension with a multi-link arrangement at the rear and McPherson spring struts at the front is used. Each of the wheels is equipped with disc brakes (front diameter - 320 mm, rear - 20 mm less).

Prices. There is a sufficient supply of Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII in the secondary market of Russia. In 2015, you can buy a car at a price of 400,000 - 500,000 rubles, but the most recent options are estimated at about a million rubles.
