In the spring of 2010, the Brazilian division of Citroen officially revealed the pseudo-crossover Aircross to the world, which resulted from hanging off-road paraphernalia on the body of the compact van “C3 Picasso” (but “C3” is not used in the official naming of this SUV).
The car, focused on the markets of Latin America, went through a planned update in November 2015 and, as a result, acquired a completely new "face", a refined interior and an expanded list of equipment.
The "Latin American" Citroen Aircross looks beautiful and deliberately aggressive, and its "off-road" appearance is added by a body kit made of unpainted plastic around the perimeter of the body and a spare wheel suspended from the tailgate. The exterior of the car is strewn with interesting design solutions, of which there is only a pompous front end with narrow headlights and LED strips of running lights, as well as roof rails that extend to the very hood.
The overall length of this "Aircross" is 4097-4307 mm, height - 1694-1742 mm, width - 1767 mm, and it has a wheelbase of 2542 mm. In the "combat" state, the "all-terrain vehicle" weighs from 1213 to 1323 kg, depending on the modification.
Inside, Citroen Aircross looks no less catchy and attractive than outside - a cool steering wheel with aggressive contours and a rim truncated at the bottom, a sporty-style instrument cluster with three "wells" and a center console with a 7-inch monitor of the multimedia complex and an original climatic " remote control ". The interior of the car is dominated by high-quality finishing materials, and its build quality is at a high level.
The interior of the compact "off-road vehicle" is designed to accommodate five people: both rows are equipped with comfortable seats with a well-thought-out profile, and the supply of free space is sufficient even for adult riders.
For the transportation of luggage, Citroen Aircross has a spacious cargo compartment with the correct proportions of 403 liters. The rear sofa is transformed flush with the floor, due to which the capacity increases to 1,500 liters, and the "spare wheel" is suspended from the fifth door, thereby saving space.
Specifications. The engine range of the pseudo-crossover combines two four-cylinder naturally aspirated engines with multipoint fuel injection and in-line configuration, capable of running on both gasoline and E85 bioethanol. Both motors work in conjunction with a 5-speed "mechanics", well, with the "older" version, a 4-band "automatic" is also installed.
- By default, Citroen Aircross is equipped with a 1.5-liter 8-valve "four" (1449 cubic centimeters), the output of which has 89 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 132 Nm of peak thrust at 3000 rpm (on bioethanol - for 4 "mares" and 8 Nm more).
- Under the hood of the "top" cars is a 16-valve unit with a volume of 1.6 liters (1587 cubic centimeters), generating 115 "horses" on gasoline at 6000 rpm and 152 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Powered by E85 fuel, it develops 122 forces at 5800 rpm and 160.8 Nm of maximum potential at 4000 rpm.
The base for the Citroen Aircross is the front-wheel drive platform "PF1", on which the power plant is transversely perched. For the compact SUV, there is an independent front suspension with MacPherson struts and a semi-independent rear architecture with a torsion beam (in both cases, anti-roll bars are installed). The car is capable of boasting a rack and pinion steering mechanism with an electric power steering and disc brake system devices with a set of modern "assistants".
Options and prices. Citroen Aircross is officially sold exclusively in Latin America, where it is in strong demand. In Brazil, this "all-road" five-door in 2016 is offered at a price of 49,990 local reais (~ 940 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate).
- As standard, the car "flaunts": front airbags, ABS with EBD, standard audio preparation, power windows for the front doors, an on-board computer and other modern equipment.
- For "full stuffing" they are asking for 69,290 reais (~ 1.3 million rubles), and its privileges are: a multimedia center with a 7-inch screen, climate control, a rear-view camera, alloy wheels and much more.
